Stone benchtop process — 7 stages
Your cabinets must be fully installed before your stone benchtop can be templated. They need to be level, securely fixed and in their final position so the stone can be made to fit your space accurately.
How the process works

Planner stage
Create your stone benchtop plan
Use the Cabjaks Benchtop Planner to enter your benchtop dimensions, layout and project details.
Your planner selections help us understand the required benchtop shape, joins, exposed edges, cut-outs and other requirements.
You will need to confirm:
- Your benchtop layout and approximate dimensions
- Your selected stone colour or range
- Which edges need to be polished
- Any sink, cooktop or tap-hole requirements
- The installation postcode and site contact details
The planner measurements are used to provide your initial quote. Your final benchtop measurements will be taken during the on-site templating appointment.

Order review
Cabjaks reviews your order
Once your order has been submitted, the Cabjaks team will review the information you provided.
We may contact you if anything needs to be confirmed before your project is passed to our stone benchtop partner.
We may check:
- Measurements that appear incomplete or unusual
- Sink, cooktop or appliance cut-out details
- Your site location and access
- Special project requirements or order notes
If you need to cancel your stone benchtop order, contact Cabjaks before templating. Once the supplier has attended your site, we may only be able to provide a partial refund.

Initial contact
The stone supplier contacts you
Once your order has been processed, the stone supplier will contact you to discuss your site, project requirements and expected timeframe.
They will arrange the next stages around when your cabinets are expected to be installed and ready for templating.
You may be asked to confirm:
- When your cabinets will be installed
- Whether the required appliances, sinks and tapware will be available
- The site address and contact person
- Any access or parking requirements

Site templating
Your benchtop is measured and templated
The stone supplier will arrange an on-site appointment to take the final measurements for your benchtop.
The template records the exact shape of the benchtop, including wall angles, joins, cut-outs, overhangs and exposed edges.
During templating, the supplier may confirm:
- Final benchtop measurements
- Wall angles and areas that are not square
- Join locations
- Sink and cooktop cut-out dimensions
- Tap-hole locations
- Overhangs and polished edges
- Delivery and installation access
Do not move or adjust your cabinets after templating. If the cabinet position changes, the manufactured benchtop may no longer fit correctly.
If the final templated requirements differ from your original order, the total price may change. Additional costs will be paid directly to the stone supplier. If the final cost is lower, the difference can be refunded through Cabjaks.

Manufacture
Your stone benchtop is manufactured
Once the template and final details are confirmed, your stone benchtop will move into manufacture.
The stone is cut to its final dimensions, with the required cut-outs, joins and polished edges prepared for installation.
Manufacturing times can vary depending on your selected stone, site location, current workload and any custom requirements.
Changes requested after templating may affect the price and lead time. Some changes may require another templating appointment or may not be possible once manufacture has started.

Professional installation
Your benchtop is delivered and installed
Once your stone benchtop is ready, the supplier will arrange an installation appointment with you.
The installers will deliver the stone, position it on your cabinets, complete any joins, secure the benchtop and check the final fit.
Before the installers arrive:
- Make sure someone is available on site if required
- Clear the project area and access route
- Keep the cabinets in the same position as they were during templating
- Have sinks, tapware or appliances available if requested
- Provide safe access from the delivery vehicle to the installation area
Stone benchtops are extremely heavy and require specialist handling. They should only be moved and installed by the appropriate professional installers.

Completion
Complete the final checks
Once installation is complete, inspect the benchtop and make sure it has been installed as expected.
Check that:
- The benchtop is sitting correctly on the cabinets
- The joins appear neat and secure
- Cut-outs are in the expected positions
- Exposed and polished edges match your order
- There is no obvious transport or installation damage
If you have any concerns about the templating, manufacture or installation, contact AGB as soon as possible so they can review the issue.
