Use contact glue and glue cleaner carefully. Always follow the safety and application instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
Application steps

Apply glue to both surfaces
Apply contact glue to the exposed benchtop edge and the back of the end-finishing strip.
If you are using aerosol glue, apply two coats. If you are using tube glue, spread it evenly across both surfaces with a spatula.

Allow the glue to dry
Allow the contact glue to dry for approximately five minutes before fitting the end-finishing strip.
Drying times can vary between products. Check and follow the instructions supplied with your glue.

Position the finishing strip
Carefully align the end-finishing strip with the benchtop edge.
Make sure it is centred and covers the entire edge before allowing the glued surfaces to touch.
Contact glue bonds immediately. You will not be able to reposition the strip once the glued surfaces touch.

Press the strip into place
Press the end-finishing strip firmly and evenly against the benchtop edge using a roller.
If you do not have a roller, use a wooden block with a clean, soft rag between the block and the finishing strip.
Apply pressure across the entire strip to create an even bond without damaging the finished surface.

Remove the excess material
Carefully remove the excess end-finishing material using a fine-toothed file.
Work slowly to avoid chipping the finishing strip or damaging the benchtop surface.

Smooth the finished edge
Lightly smooth the edge using a sanding block until the end-finishing strip sits neatly against the benchtop.
Avoid sanding the surrounding laminate surface.

Clean away excess glue
Use a clean rag and suitable glue cleaner to remove any remaining glue from the benchtop and finishing strip.
Follow the glue cleaner manufacturer’s instructions and test it carefully before applying it to a visible surface.
