These Terms and Conditions explain how the Cabjaks Dovetail Referral Programme works, who is eligible to participate, when an incentive is payable, and the conditions that apply.
Cabjaks Assembly Limited, trading as Cabjaks, operates an Advocate Referral Programme that rewards existing customers who successfully introduce new customers to Cabjaks.
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “Cabjaks”, “we”, “us”, and “our” means Cabjaks Assembly Limited.
1. Programme overview
The Advocate Referral Programme rewards eligible existing Cabjaks customers who refer new customers to Cabjaks.
Where a referred customer makes a Qualifying Purchase as a result of a valid referral, Cabjaks will pay the Referrer a cash incentive in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms apply to Tier 1 Advocate participants only.
Trade partners, builders, installers, schools, commercial referrers, and other higher-volume referral partners operating under a formal Affiliate or Partner Agreement are governed by separate programme terms.
2. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
Programme means the Cabjaks Advocate Referral Programme.
Referrer means an eligible existing Cabjaks customer who refers a new customer to Cabjaks.
Referee means a new customer referred to Cabjaks by a Referrer.
Qualifying Purchase means a purchase that meets the requirements set out in clause 4.
Incentive means the cash referral payment payable to a Referrer for a valid Qualifying Purchase.
Partner Programme means Cabjaks’ separate referral or affiliate programme for higher-volume or commercial referral partners.
3. Eligibility
3.1 Referrer eligibility
To participate as a Referrer, you must:
- be an existing Cabjaks customer who has previously made a purchase from Cabjaks;
- hold an active customer account with Cabjaks;
- be a New Zealand resident or a New Zealand-registered business with a New Zealand address; and
- obtain a unique referral code or referral link through Cabjaks’ website, app, or by contacting Cabjaks directly.
3.2 Referee eligibility
To qualify as a Referee, the referred customer must:
- be a new customer who has not made a purchase from Cabjaks in the previous 24 months;
- not be a spouse, partner, parent, child, sibling, or person residing in the same household as the Referrer;
- not be an employee, director, shareholder, or representative of the same business as the Referrer; and
- be a New Zealand resident or a New Zealand-registered business with a New Zealand address.
4. Qualifying Purchase
A Qualifying Purchase means a sale by Cabjaks to a Referee that meets all of the following conditions:
- the net purchase value is at least NZ$500 excluding GST, delivery charges, installation charges, discounts, and promotional reductions;
- the referral code or referral link was applied at the time of purchase and before the order was placed;
- the purchase was completed and paid in full within 90 days of the referral being submitted;
- the order has not been cancelled, returned, or refunded, in whole or in part, within 30 days of dispatch; and
- the sale is not made on a corporate, trade, wholesale, or pre-approved Partner account.
Referrals submitted after an order is placed will not qualify.
Only one referral incentive is payable per Qualifying Purchase.
5. How to participate
To participate in the Programme:
- Obtain your unique referral code or referral link from Cabjaks’ website, app, or by contacting us.
- Share your referral code or referral link with the Referee through your own channels.
- The Referee must quote or apply the referral code at the time of placing their order, either online or directly with Cabjaks.
- Once the sale is completed, paid in full, and verified by Cabjaks, we will contact you to confirm your incentive and arrange payment.
- You must provide valid New Zealand bank account details in your own name before any incentive payment can be made.
Cabjaks may also request additional information where reasonably required to verify your identity, confirm payment details, meet tax or accounting obligations, or comply with applicable law.
6. Disclosure obligation
If you actively promote Cabjaks to potential Referees through any channel, you must clearly disclose that you may receive a financial incentive if the Referee makes a qualifying purchase.
This includes promotion through:
- social media posts;
- online platforms;
- blogs or websites;
- community groups;
- email newsletters;
- paid advertising;
- commercial recommendations; or
- verbal endorsements made in a business, promotional, or commercial context.
Acceptable disclosure examples include:
“I earn a small reward if you buy through my referral link.”
“Cabjaks referral — I receive a commission for successful referrals.”
Your disclosure must be clear, easy to notice, and easy to understand. It must not be hidden in hashtags, fine print, or placed somewhere that the audience is unlikely to see.
Failure to comply with this disclosure obligation is a breach of these Terms and may result in cancellation of your participation, refusal of an incentive payment, or clawback of any incentive already paid.
7. Incentive payment
7.1 Incentive amount
The incentive is 5% of the net value of the Qualifying Purchase.
The net value excludes:
- GST;
- delivery charges;
- installation charges;
- discounts;
- promotional reductions; and
- any other charges or adjustments that Cabjaks determines are not part of the product purchase value.
Incentives are not transferable.
7.2 Payment timing
Payment will be made within 30 days of the later of:
- the Qualifying Purchase being completed and paid in full; and
- the expiry of the 30-day post-dispatch hold period referred to in clause 4.
Cabjaks will contact the Referrer once the incentive has been approved and is ready for payment.
7.3 Payment method
All incentive payments will be made by direct credit to a New Zealand bank account held in the Referrer’s own name.
Cabjaks does not offer credit card refunds, store credit, vouchers, or account credits as a payment method under this Programme.
8. Tax
Incentive payments made under this Programme may be taxable income to the Referrer.
You are solely responsible for declaring referral incentive income to Inland Revenue and for meeting all applicable tax obligations, including income tax and GST if you are GST-registered.
Cabjaks does not withhold tax from incentive payments.
Cabjaks may maintain records of incentive payments and may request information from you where reasonably required for payment, accounting, tax, or legal purposes.
Cabjaks recommends that Referrers who receive material incentive income seek independent tax advice.
9. Conditions and exclusions
No incentive is payable where:
- the purchase does not meet the requirements of a Qualifying Purchase;
- the purchase involves financing, lay-by, or a trade-in arrangement;
- the Referee is, or becomes, a corporate, trade, wholesale, or Partner account holder, unless pre-approved in writing by Cabjaks;
- the Referrer has referred themselves, including through a different name, account, email address, phone number, business, or contact person;
- the referral code or link was not applied before the order was placed;
- the order is cancelled, returned, refunded, or materially reduced;
- Cabjaks reasonably suspects fraud, collusion, misrepresentation, misuse, or manipulation of the Programme;
- either the Referrer or Referee breaches these Terms; or
- the Referrer has failed to comply with the disclosure obligation in clause 6.
Cabjaks may refuse, withhold, or claw back an incentive payment in any of the above circumstances.
Cabjaks’ decision on eligibility is final, subject to the query process set out in clause 12.
10. Programme changes and termination
Cabjaks may modify, suspend, or terminate the Programme by giving at least 14 days’ notice where practicable.
Notice may be provided by:
- posting updated Terms and Conditions on our website;
- emailing registered participants; or
- using any other reasonable method of communication.
Where notice is not practicable, including in response to suspected fraud, misuse, technical issues, or legal requirements, Cabjaks may modify, suspend, or terminate the Programme immediately.
Incentives already earned at the time of any modification, suspension, or termination will be honoured, provided the Qualifying Purchase has been completed, paid in full, verified by Cabjaks, and the 30-day post-dispatch hold period has expired.
11. Upgrade to Partner Programme
Cabjaks operates a separate Partner Programme for high-volume, commercial, or professional referrers.
If, in any 12-month period, you either:
- earn cumulative incentives of NZ$1,000 or more; or
- complete 10 or more Qualifying Purchase referrals,
Cabjaks may invite you to enter into a formal Partner Affiliate Agreement.
The Partner Programme may provide access to higher commission tiers, additional benefits, and different obligations.
If you are invited to upgrade and do not complete the Partner Affiliate Agreement within 30 days of the invitation, Cabjaks may hold incentive payments that exceed the relevant threshold until the Partner Affiliate Agreement is signed.
Incentives below the threshold will continue to be paid in accordance with these Terms.
12. Queries and disputes
If you believe a decision about your eligibility or incentive payment is incorrect, you may contact Cabjaks within 30 days of the decision.
