Cabinet Materials
Cabjaks cabinets are designed to balance durability, clean presentation and everyday practicality with unbeatable prices. This section breaks down the key materials and construction details used across our cabinetry range.
Cabinets and Panels
All of our board is manufactured in New Zealand from sustainably grown New Zealand pine.

White Cabinet Board
We use locally sourced Laminex 16mm TE White Melteca board with a white satin Naturele finish for all of our cabinet parts and White fronts.

Colour Components
Our colour components are also 16mm superfine particle board with either a satin or Timberland finish (woodgrains).
Edging
All cabinet parts are finished with 1mm PVC edging, applied to protect exposed edges from moisture, impact and daily wear. This edging plays a key role in both durability and appearance, helping maintain clean lines while preventing chipping or damage over time.
Edge Finish
Our edging is colour-matched to our panels and applied with an edge bander to create a seamless, consistent finish across all panels. This ensures a clean, professional look and provides increased resistance to moisture and swelling.
Durability and Detail
Attention to detail is a core part of our manufacturing process. From consistent panel finishes to precise edging and assembly, every component is designed to fit cleanly and perform reliably. The result is cabinetry that not only looks good when installed, but continues to hold up over time.
Hardware
Hardware plays a big role in how cabinetry feels in everyday use.
Hinges
Our cabinet hinges are sourced from Hafele and are selected for smooth operation and long-term reliability. Soft-close functionality is standard across our range, reducing noise and minimising wear on cabinet doors during everyday use..
Drawer Systems
Our drawer systems are designed to feel solid and operate smoothly, even under regular use. Although 'Standard' drawers are automatically applied to cabinets, most customers choose to upgrade to soft-close for increased durability and a better feel.
Handles
Our handles are chosen to complement the overall design while remaining practical for daily use. From clean, minimal styles to more detailed finishes, all handles are designed to integrate seamlessly with your cabinetry and maintain its appearance over time. We drill all of our handle holes with a 128mm centre and source our handles from Stefano Orlati.
Benchtop Materials
Benchtops play a major role in both the appearance and practicality of the finished space. This section breaks down the key material components and installation-related parts used across our benchtop range.
Substrate and Laminate
Our benchtops are constructed using a durable particle board substrate, finished with a high-pressure laminate surface. This combination provides a practical, cost-effective solution that delivers both durability and a clean, modern appearance.

Benchtop Substrate
The core of each benchtop is designed to provide strength and stability, ensuring it performs well under everyday use. Our particle board is moisture resistant to provide increased resistance to warping and bowing.

Laminate Surface
We have numerous colour options for our benchtops, all are made from the same laminate material with a satin finish.
Clashing and Loose Clashing
We have 2 options when it comes to clashing your benchtop, machined on or loose..
Clashing
When you plan a custom benchtop, you will be asked to select your 'finished' ends. We will machine on PVC clashing wherever you select a finished end. This seals the benchtop to protect from moisture damage and also gives it a finished look.
Loose Clashing
If you have a benchtop without clashing or order a blank from us, you can use a loose clashing strip and some contact adhesive to clash the raw edges yourself.
Joins and Kits
All L-shape and U-shape benchtops are automatically provided with a joining kit.
Benchtop Joins
We manufacture our tops with mitre joins and routed holes for your toggle bolts. We recommend planning to keep your joins away from water and heat sources to ensure long lasting durability.
Join and Installation Kits
Your joining kit includes a tube of glue and the correct number of toggle bolts for your top. We have a how-to guide that shows how to join a benchtop when installing.
