What is Zero Silica stone?
Zero Silica stone is an engineered stone benchtop surface made without crystalline silica. Traditional engineered stone is mostly quartz, which is crystalline silica; cutting and polishing it releases dust that is a health risk for the people who fabricate and install it. Zero Silica stone is made from mineral and resin without that quartz content, so fabricators can work it under standard dust controls, and you get the finish, consistency and low maintenance that made engineered stone popular in the first place.
For day-to-day use it is non-porous and does not need sealing. Wipe spills, clean with a cloth and mild detergent, use a board for cutting and a trivet under hot pans, as you would with any stone benchtop.
The nine colours above are all Zero Silica. Every benchtop is fabricated in New Zealand by our stone partner network, templated on site once your cabinets are in, and installed by the same team. The price you see in the planner covers all of it.

What are the disadvantages of engineered stone?
Traditional quartz-based engineered stone can release crystalline silica dust during cutting and grinding, creating a health risk for fabricators. Cabjaks Zero Silica stone is made without crystalline silica.
The finished surface still needs care. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent, avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive scourers, and follow the care instructions supplied with your benchtop.
How much does an engineered stone benchtop cost in New Zealand?
